Google expands LE Audio and Auracast support: Pixel phones and Sony headphones now allow audio sharing

Thanks to expanded support for Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast, Pixel phones will now be able to stream audio to multiple headphones simultaneously. If you have a Pixel 8 or newer model, you can connect two headphones at once. This means you can, for example, enjoy the latest single from Nourished by Time with a friend on the bus, or watch an episode of Alien Earth with your partner during a flight.
You can also create a private audio broadcast that you share with multiple headphones using a QR code or Fast Pair — ideal for situations where you want to convince everyone around you that Disintegration Loops can only be truly appreciated through headphones.
Of course, if you’re planning to host a sort of “silent disco,” your friends will need headphones that support LE Audio. Google is expanding Android support for a range of Sony models, including LinkBuds S, WF-1000XM5, InZone Buds, LinkBuds Open, LinkBuds Fit, WH-1000XM6 and InZone H9 II. There is already existing support for hearing aids, Samsung Galaxy phones, and select Xiaomi devices.
In addition to LE Audio support, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also getting a new feature called Adaptive Audio. This technology lets you enjoy active noise cancellation while still remaining aware of your surroundings. For example, you won’t hear constant city traffic during a walk, but if someone honks right before you step into the street, the sound will reach you. It also includes Loud Noise Protection to protect your hearing — for instance, when a fire truck with a siren passes nearby.
